Final Product or Initial Prototype?
Throughout the crafting process, I found the necessity for a massive amount of precision, which was difficult and near impossible to achieve by manually crafting each piece to the exact and equal specifications. This problem demands significantly more time to ensure each component shows the perfection and symmetry I require. I acknowledge my faults in the craftsmanship throughout this project, but as I mentioned, I envision this piece as a prototype for further design iterations. I aim to accomplish the level of excellence you receive with a manufactured object.

Core Concept of My Design
This product can be seen as an assembly kit.
This 'toy' provides a versatile system of interlocking tubes and screws which allow the user to construct a wide array of forms and functions. Whilst I have demonstrated this system being used to represent forms of seating I wish to further demonstrate its potential for other functions. This could be shown in large-scale sculptures or other forms of household items and furnishings.
This concept emphasizes creativity, imagination, and hands-on learning through play. It encourages users to explore, experiment, and innovate, fostering problem-solving skills and spatial awareness. Additionally, the concept promotes modularity, enabling users to combine and reconfigure elements to create new designs and inventions. I want users to inspire me with their creations, whilst taking inspiration through the decades of design that walked before us.
How does this system of components work?
The system of these components utilises the principle of interlocking elements. Using a male and female connection allows each piece to simply slot together and lock with small seamless grubs screws provided. Once locked together, the pieces still have the flexibility to fold and move in certain directions depending on the forms you make. The simple frame I've demonstrated for my deck chair allows it to fold to easily hide away when not in use and tuck neatly into small areas.
The current array of components is made up of our simple 10cm straight tubes and rounded 90-degree corner pieces. These two parts can already make so many forms and functions that I am still discovering and exploring today, but I don't want this idea to stop here. Additionally, I want to design and create more complex pieces which could make even more products, whether this is more corner pieces at different angles, Cross joints, or T joints, the list is endless and the possibilities of this design concept excite me so much. I can't wait to explore making more of these and possibly improving other aspects like maybe the locking system as I have found it takes quite a while to assemble, dessemble and reassemble into these different forms.

I wish to sell this product in different sets which can form into several different outcomes. Each Build will be a different spec. I wish for the design to be completely customisable and for you to choose colours finishes and forms of seating. These images on this page would all be sold as one set. The KIT Spec. 1

Reflection
I understand the outlined objective of delivering a final product or a collection of pieces within a craft that we aim to refine skills in an industry of interest, however, my gut leans towards the product design side of our course. I still wish to lead with the hands-on approach to design as I like to understand the problem-solving aspects to show me how components of a design like this come together and how each piece is made. My biggest focus throughout this course has always been functions and aesthetics, I like to design and create objects that have a purpose and can be used for a specific reason. I wish to create products with no flaws which you see alot in factory-made items.
